After a relaxed check-in at the Balmoral Hotel, make your way to Edinburgh Waverley Station for a red carpet welcome with a traditional Scottish piper. When you step on board the Royal Scotsman, you are shown to your beautiful cabin. The train sets off in the early afternoon, and after you've settled into your accommodation, head to the observation car for a Champagne Afternoon Tea.
Outside, the cityscape quickly transforms into countryside as the train glides along the Highland Line through Dunkeld, Pitlochry and Blair Atholl. Make sure to look out for the imposing castle! As you journey deeper into the Highlands, the rolling hills give way to dramatic peaks and valleys.
In the evening, the Royal Scotsman will stop on a private railway in the village of Boat of Garten. Dress for dinner and make your way to the observation car for a champagne and canapé reception before sitting down in the dining car for a spectacular four-course dinner crafted by Lorna.
After a relaxed breakfast, either in your cabin or in the dining car, take a short coach ride to the Rothiemurchus Estate in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. Here, you can take part in a variety of outdoor pursuits, including fishing and clay pigeon shooting. Guests can also choose to partake in a guided hike or a leisurely tour of the estate. When the activities have concluded, join Lorna for a delicious barbecue lunch. This will be the perfect time to sit back and really appreciate the natural beauty of your surroundings.
Step back on board and relax as the train travels south. Another champagne reception is served as you travel down the east coast through Aberdeenshire and Angus towards Dundee. The final meal on board is a Gala Dinner, so guests are encouraged to dress to impress. After dinner, head to the observation car for traditional live music and farewell drinks.
Linger over your final breakfast as the train departs from Dundee and travels through the former Kingdom of Fife. Before you head back to Edinburgh, the train will cross the Firth of Forth via the breathtaking Forth Railway Bridge. In the late morning, the train arrives at Edinburgh Waverley Station, where you will say your goodbyes to the staff and your new friends

All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
