Your journey begins at Singapore's Woodland Station. Marvel at the gleaming green exterior of the Eastern & Oriental Express as it pulls into the platform. When you step foot on the train, take the time to admire its magical festive makeover.
Your steward will then show you to your air-conditioned cabin - complete with cherrywood panelling, Thai silks and exquisite Malaysian embroidery. As you settle in and admire the scenery outside your window, the kitchen will be preparing a sumptuous afternoon tea for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own cabin.
As the sun begins to set, it's time to get yourself ready for your first onboard dinner. Enjoy locally sourced, traditional Southeast Asian dishes (with a Belmond twist) followed by vibrant entertainment in the bar car.
As the train coasts past the villages and rice paddies of Malaysia, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, either in your cabin or the restaurant car. This morning is the perfect time to really relax and enjoy the journey.
After lunch, it's time to disembark the train at Alor Setar Station for an exciting boat trip to Pulau Payar Marine Park. The underwater areas surrounding the island are best known for their varied and colourful marine life; from moray eels and groupers to angel and parrot fish! During your time here, you will be treated to a luxurious picnic with a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to unwind with a choice of wellness activities such as tai chi, meditation and massage. You can also choose to explore the marine park with a snorkelling activity, try out paddle boarding or simply take a stroll around the island. The choice is yours!
After an unforgettable day with the friendly locals, a seafront bar and decadent barbeque, it's time to head back to the train and dress for tonight's Christmas Eve Dinner.

Your day will certainly be off to a merry start as you arrive in Penang - a vibrant and culturally diverse island located northwest of Peninsular Malaysia. When you arrive, you will notice the glimmering decorations that adorn the trees and you may even hear a Christmas carol or two! You will be given the choice of three excursions in Georgetown: A trip to the market followed by a traditional Peranakan cooking class, a guided tour of the old town including temples, an opera house, a puppet show and much more, or you can choose to explore at your own pace - equipped with a map, a tri-shaw and a driver!
After an adventurous morning, it's time to re-board the train at Butterworth for lunch.
Tonight's celebrations will be unforgettable - with champagne, fine dining and an array of festive entertainment. Eat, drink and laugh your way through the evening and if you're still awake at midnight, you will be invited to admire the glittering skyline of Kuala Lumpur as you pass through.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast either in your cabin or in the restaurant car as the train travels through the remarkable state of Johor - famous for its beaches and rainforests. Before long, you will be back in Singapore, where your journey will come to an end.
