The LuxuryTrainTickets team is delighted to announce this extraordinary five-day, four-night journey from Rome to Istanbul aboard the La Dolce Vita Orient Express. This voyage retraces the legendary route that defined the golden age of rail travel. This one-way adventure allows you to experience multiple iconic destinations while indulging in world-class cuisine and timeless elegance. Along the way, discover Venice’s glittering canals, Budapest’s grand boulevards, the storybook towns of Brașov and Sinaia in the Carpathians, before arriving in Istanbul.
Your journey begins with a private transfer from your hotel or the airport to the exclusive La Dolce Vita Lounge at Rome Ostiense, which opens three hours prior to departure. This chic, relaxing space offers the perfect setting to unwind before boarding. As evening falls, the train departs Rome, and you settle into your private cabin, watching the Italian countryside drift by. Dinner is served in the elegant Restaurant Car, where three-Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck presents a menu that sets the tone for the culinary excellence ahead. Later, live music from a pianist and vocalist creates a warm, sophisticated atmosphere as the train glides north towards Venice.
After a fresh, Italian breakfast on board, you’ll arrive in the shimmering city of Venice. Upon disembarking, you will be met by local assistants and transferred to the heart of the city by private water taxi. Today, you have the option to explore Venice at your leisure or choose from a selection of curated experiences (please see below for details). In the late afternoon, return to the station to rejoin the train. Dinner once again showcases the culinary mastery of Chef Heinz Beck. An evening of live music accompanies the onward journey east.
When you awake, the train will have arrived in Budapest, a city famed for its grand architecture and iconic bridges. Local assistants escort you by private transfer into the city, where the day is yours to explore independently or through curated experiences.
By late afternoon, return to the train for another exquisite dinner in the Restaurant Car. As the journey continues through Central Europe, live piano and vocal performances provide an intimate soundtrack to the evening.
Today, the train glides through the dramatic scenery of the Carpathian Mountains, arriving in the medieval town of Brașov. Wander its cobbled streets and charming squares at your own pace.
In the afternoon, rejoin the train in Sinaia for Aperitivo Hour. After this, a refined dinner curated by Chef Heinz Beck is served. As live music fills the carriage, the train departs eastward, leaving the Carpathians behind and heading to Istanbul.
On the final morning, arrive in Istanbul — a vibrant city where Europe meets Asia. Enjoy a final leisurely lunch onboard.
Upon arrival, local hosts welcome you and bid farewell.
