Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Departing from Edinburgh Waverley Station early afternoon, you head north towards Perth. Enjoy an afternoon tea as the train continues through the rolling hills of Perthshire, offering stunning views of peaks and valleys right outside your window. Leisure time aboard is ideal for settling into your luxury accommodation and conversing with fellow guests, before an informal dinner later that evening.
Day 2 – Keith:
A brief transfer takes you to Rothiemurchus Estate where you are invited to choose from a range of activities including clay pigeon shooting, fishing or a guided tour of the estate with a Park Ranger. Later, enjoy refreshments served in the hunting lodge and learn more about this family-run estate. Lunch is served on the train before you disembark to the Culloden Battlefield for a vivid guided tour from our Highlander. Later we travel to the Strathisla Distillery for a tour before returning to the train for a formal dinner. Traditional Scottish music is then offered in the Observation Car.
Day 3 – Spean Bridge:
After a hearty breakfast, we cross the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge, an ideal time to venture to the Observation Car! We disembark in Edinburgh to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia for a guided tour and a light lunch, or if guests choose, they are free to explore Edinburgh on their own. Board the Royal Scotsman once again later that afternoon for afternoon tea as we take in yet more spectacular views before an informal dinner is served on the way to Spean Bridge.
Day 4 – Fort William:
Travelling west, we see views such as that of Ben Nevis before we disembark at Arisaig for a relaxing stroll along the stunning Morar Sands. Return to the train for lunch as we head towards Fort William. A visit to historic Glenfinnan is brought to life by our Highlander who paints a vivid picture of Scottish heroes. Cream tea is served at Inverlohy Castle Hotel before we return to Fort William. Guests have the alternative option of a bike through Nevis Gorge if the weather permits. We return to the train once more to relax before an informal dinner.
Day 5 – Isle of Bute:
More dramatic scenery can be appreciated as it whisks past your window as we head to the west coast where you board a ferry in Wemyss Bay and head to the Isle of Bute. A beautiful island boasting a variety of landscapes and wildlife. Visit the spectacular Victorian Gothic house Mount Stuart and marvel at the large privately held collection of family portraits. Afternoon tea is held in the Drawing Room before you explore the spectacular house and gardens. We return to the train for a formal dinner before retiring to the Observation Car for local entertainment.
Day 6 – Edinburgh:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the Royal Scotsman train returns to Edinburgh where your journey on the Royal Scotsman concludes.

All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
