DAY ONE - EDINBURGH TO BOAT OF GARTEN
Departing from Edinburgh in the early afternoon; The Royal Scotsman travels north to the gorgeous City of Perth. As you continue along the Highland line through Dunkeld, Pitlochry and Blair Atholl, enjoy a sumptuous champagne afternoon tea.
Enjoy gazing upon the towering peaks and dramatic valleys as you speed further into the Highlands towards Aviemore. This is the gateway to the beautiful Cairngorms National Park.
Your first encounter with Tom Kitchin includes an appearance from the esteemed wine merchant, L’Art du Vin. Join them in the Observation Car for an exclusive wine masterclass with useful food pairing tips.
When the evening comes, the train stops in the tranquil Highland village of Boat of Garten on a private railway. A champagne and canapé reception is certain to prepare your tastebuds for the main event: a magnificent four-course dinner, hosted by Tom Kitchin.
Kitchin is known for his traditional yet inventive cooking and for this very special occasion, he will be taking inspiration from Scotland; barley, venison, fresh lobster. No matter who you are and what you like, Tom will ensure an exceptional feast celebrating the best of Scotland!
After dinner, make your way to the observation car with your fellow travellers to enjoy live entertainment and the chance to listen to Tom tell the stories of his fascinating life.
DAY TWO - BOAT OF GARTEN TO DUNDEE
The next day, after a peaceful night's sleep in your cabin enjoy a traditional breakfast to fuel you for the day ahead. Travel by coach to Rothiemurchus Estate which is in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Choose from a range of activities including fishing, clay pigeon shooting, and estate tour or a guided hike with one of the park rangers. Afterwards, make your way to the lochside bothy where you will join Tom for a barbeque lunch with breathtaking mountain views.
After lunch, you return to the train at Carrbridge and travel onward through Inverness and along the stunning Moray Firth until you arrive in Forres to visit the Benromach Distillery, one of Speyside's smallest distilleries where the casks are still hand-filled and stenciled by hand. Learn all about the production of whisky and then try it for yourself!
It is then time to rejoin the train in the quaint market town of Keith where you will be welcomed with a champagne reception as the train heads South. Dress in your finest clothes for the extra special Gala dinner and then afterwards, join Tom in the Observation Car for live music, drinks and dancing.
