Your journey begins in the heart of London. In the mid-afternoon, step aboard the Britannic Explorer at London Victoria Station and settle into your beautifully appointed contemporary suite. Take a moment to admire the thoughtful design and elegant details that define your home for the journey ahead.
Soon after departure, the first of many gastronomic pleasures awaits. Savour a traditional Cornish Afternoon Tea as the train glides through the scenic North Wessex Downs and past the charming Somerset market towns of Frome and Taunton—an idyllic introduction to the English countryside.
As evening draws near, the train arrives at the historic West Somerset Railway, a 20-mile stretch of heritage track winding through rolling countryside en route to the medieval village of Dunster. Enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail in the bar car, where you can mingle with fellow travellers in an atmosphere of relaxed sophistication.
Dinner is a highlight of the day: an exquisite menu curated by Simon Rogan, the visionary chef behind the three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume. Begin your day with a leisurely brunch, served as the Britannic Explorer glides through the serene English countryside. Today’s journey takes you to the scenic south coast of Devon, where you’ll join the famed Riviera Line—a stretch of track renowned for its dramatic views along the coastline. Gaze out over the sea as you pass through charming seaside towns such as Teignmouth and along the iconic Dawlish Sea Wall.
Skirting the edge of Dartmoor National Park, the train continues to Plymouth before crossing into Cornwall—known locally as Kernow. The final leg to Penzance is truly captivating, with glimpses of the shimmering sea and coastal landscapes unfolding through the windows as you travel via St Austell and Truro.
After lunch, choose your own adventure. Disembark at St Erth for an excursion to the artistic enclave of St Ives, or remain on board to reach Penzance, where a guided tour of the extraordinary Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens awaits. Later, rejoin the Britannic Explorer in Fowey and relax as the train makes its way through the countryside towards the delightful market town of Bruton in Somerset. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy exclusive after-hours access to the acclaimed Hauser & Wirth contemporary art gallery. Explore its thought-provoking exhibitions on a private guided tour, followed by a refined drinks reception and a specially curated dinner within the gallery’s stunning setting.
As the evening draws to a close, the train comes to rest on the peaceful tracks of the East Somerset Railway, offering a serene and stylish end to the day’s adventures.
Breakfast is served as the train sets off on its journey back to London. You will arrive at Victoria Station in the early morning, prepared to carry on with your day feeling refreshed and revitalised.

We will contact you one to 10 working days after you have paid to confirm your booking, take further details of those travelling and send your itinerary. In the rare instance your booking cannot be fulfilled for any reason, such as the operator cancelling a journey or anything else beyond our control, we will be in touch with alternative options or will refund your payment.
All prices shown are for one adult ticket. Sleeper journeys are based on two adults sharing accommodation. Single occupancy of cabins may incur additional charge.

This is done so the operators can add you to their guest list, send you your tickets and ensure the meals served to you onboard meet your dietary requirements. By booking with LuxuryTrainTickets.com, you are agreeing that you allow such necessary details to be shared with the operators under the cause of legitimate interest. There are a limited number of private tables and cabin types onboard. While we keep our website updated regularly, there may be occasions when private tables or cabin types become fully booked meaning we are unable to fulfil your booking requirements. Should this be the case, we will contact you to discuss alternative options and refund any payments made.
We have the right to refuse the request of a deposit when a journey is scheduled to depart in less than 16 weeks. If you choose to book with a deposit you must pay the remaining balance in full 15 weeks before departure at the latest. Should you fail to pay the remaining balance 15 weeks prior to departure, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking. Deposits are accepted by request. Most journeys require a 25% deposit to secure a booking however some specialist journeys do require a 50% deposit. Please contact us for confirmation.
Tickets are sent electronically around 5 days before departure. You will not receive tickets or any form of 'gift pack' in the post. This is in an attempt to reduce paper use and do our part for the environment.
