Itinerary

Itinerary:

Friday: London – Bishops Lydeard

In the mid-afternoon, step on board the Britannic Explorer at London Victoria Station. Settle into your stylish contemporary suite and appreciate the refined design details. Soon, the first of many culinary delights is served—enjoy a traditional Cornish Afternoon Tea while admiring scenic views through your window.

Your journey continues through the picturesque North Wessex Downs and the charming Somerset market towns of Frome and Taunton. As evening arrives, you will reach the West Somerset Railway, a heritage line offering 20 miles of countryside views towards Dunster.

Head to the bar to socialise with fellow guests over signature cocktails before taking your seat in the elegant restaurant car for a dinner crafted by renowned chef Simon Rogan. As the Chef Patron of three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume, he is a pioneer of farm-to-fork cuisine, creating dishes inspired by seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and innovative flavours.

After a captivating evening of on-board entertainment, retire to your suite for a restful night.

Saturday: Bishops Lydeard – Penzance – Fowey

Savour a relaxed brunch this morning as you glide through the English countryside. Today’s route takes you to the south coast of Devon, where you join the celebrated Riviera Line. This scenic railway hugs the coastline, offering beautiful ocean views from charming towns such as Teignmouth and along the iconic Dawlish Sea Wall.

Bypassing Dartmoor National Park to reach Plymouth, the journey continues into Cornwall—locally known as Kernow. The final stretch to Penzance is equally enchanting, revealing glittering sea vistas and soft Cornish light as you pass St Austell and Truro.

After lunch, choose to disembark at St Erth to explore the artistic haven of St Ives, or continue to Penzance for a guided tour of the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. Here, you can experience James Turrell’s Aqua Oscura installation, offering a mesmerising perspective of sky and canopy from a former Victorian water tank. Afterwards, enjoy a private Cornish wine tasting overlooking the picturesque St Michael’s Mount.

In the late afternoon, rejoin the train as it travels towards Fowey. The train pauses overnight on a tranquil riverside track. Spend the evening enjoying wellness treatments in your suite or socialising in the bar, followed by another exquisite dinner and engaging entertainment.

Sunday: Fowey – Bruton

This morning, select from a variety of activities in and around the charming harbour town of Fowey and the Lostwithiel area, known for ancient heritage and beautiful gardens. Options include coastal hikes, private boat tours and other tailored experiences.

Afterwards, return to the train in Fowey and relax as you journey to the delightful Somerset market town of Bruton. Here, enjoy a private after-hours tour of the renowned Hauser & Wirth contemporary art gallery, followed by a drinks reception and an exclusive dinner. The train rests overnight on the peaceful East Somerset Railway.

Monday: Castle Cary – London

Breakfast is served as the train begins its return journey to London. You will arrive at Victoria Station in the early morning, feeling refreshed and ready to start your day.
