First time in Liverpool?

If you’re specifically travelling to Liverpool to join the Northern Belle, it’s well worth arriving a little early or sticking around a while after. A place where maritime history meets vibrant culture, Liverpool is the place to go for live music, amazing food and warm hospitality. Here are a couple of our recommendations:

The Beatles Story Museum

This award-winning museum is the world's largest permanent Beatles exhibition, taking guests on a journey through the lives, times, culture and music of the Fab Four. A must-visit for any music lover, The Beatles Story showcases an extraordinary collection of memorabilia, from the band’s original instruments and Ringo Starr’s drum kit to John Lennon’s iconic New York piano, rare album covers, photographs and handwritten lyrics.

The museum celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2020, and continues to evolve, with newly added displays and exhibits — including a tribute to Ringo Starr’s 80th birthday, immersive experiences in the replica Cavern Club and John Lennon’s White Room, and a host of exciting new artefacts.

The Royal Albert Dock

The Royal Albert Dock is a historic waterfront complex in Liverpool, England, that has been reimagined as a bustling cultural hub. Once a centre for global trade in the 19th century, it is now home to museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, and shops. The dock's warehouses are the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in the UK. The dock is home to the aforementioned Beatles Museum, but also the Tate Liverpool, the Museum of Liverpool and the Maritime Museum.

Sefton Park

Sefton Park is one of Liverpool’s most iconic and cherished green spaces. Designated a Grade I listed park by English Heritage, its 200 acres have been beautifully designed to feel like a natural landscape rather than a man-made creation. In spring, the park bursts into colour with millions of golden daffodils encircling the lake, while carpets of bluebells lend a timeless, countryside charm.

Curving paths and sweeping driveways wind through groves of beech and other native British trees. Among its many attractions are a boating lake, charming replica statues of Eros and Peter Pan, and a welcoming café. At its heart stands the celebrated Palm House — a stunning glass-domed conservatory, lovingly restored to its original splendour.
