This experience, similar to an Orient Express train journey onboard the Eastern & Oriental Express luxury train, will take you from the capital of Malaysia to the capital of Thailand visit Royal Kuala Kangsar and the world-famous River Kwai on a journey like no other.
This short Eastern & Oriental Express journey starts off in the capital at Kuala Lumpur railway station (Salak Selatan), where you will board the magnificent Eastern & Oriental Express train. As you board this luxury train in Kuala Lumpur, you will be shown to your cabin by one of the Eastern & Oriental Express stewards. Settle in and make yourself comfortable, breakfast will be served in your cabin. The train will head towards Kuala Kangsar, where it will stop for you to disembark to take a coach transfer to a rural village to experience day to day life of the locals. A traditional ceremony will welcome you to the village and you will be able to enjoy a guided tour of the lush rice paddies. If you prefer, you can opt to join the trekkers for a trek to the top of one o the hills to experience some of the most majestic views in the world. You will re-join the Eastern & Oriental Express train for a cocktail reception, which is accompanied by performances by a pianist. Dinner will be served in the evening as your luxury train journey to Thailand continues.
The second day of your Kuala Lumpar to Bangkok luxury train journey will have you stop at Kanchanaburi. Take breakfast aboard the Eastern Orient Express before heading out for a choice of two tours. You can either take the Local Flavours tour, that will head to the wet market, visit a rice noodle house, take a raft cruise and cooking course. Alternatively, the Classic Tour will take you to visit the River Kwai Bridge, as well as the Thai - Burma Railway Museum. The other choice of tour on day 2 of your Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok on the Eastern & Oriental Express is the Unseen Thailand Tour, where you head by bicycle through rice paddies, heading to a local farm to experience local farm life. By lunch time you will certainly have worked up an appetite, so it's back to the Eastern & Orient Express train for lunch, before the luxury train journey to Bangkok concludes in the late afternoon.
