While the original Orient Express in the books and films travelled from Paris to Istanbul, it is possible to experience the same levels of luxury and opulence in the UK. Orient Express Tickets UK allow passengers just like you to experience life onboard a luxury train with a wide choice of day trips and excursions throughout Great Britain, for a far more affordable price.
A question we are often asked is does the Orient Express still run, and while the original train that stars in novels and films hasn’t been in service since 1977, there are many Orient Express style trains of the same style and from the same era that still operate today. One key train being the British Pullman, the sister of the Venice Simplon Orient Express, which in turn is the sister of the original Orient Express.
Another question that may come to mind is how much is a trip on the Orient Express, and the short answer is much less than you might think! You can enjoy a journey onboard an original, beautifully restored Orient Express style train from just £200 per person. For that you’ll not only have an enjoyable journey and fine cuisine, but memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Welcome aboard the British Pullman, a fully-restored 1920’s luxury train that departs exclusively from London Victoria. A true Orient Express UK offering a wide-range of different journeys run multiple times a week throughout the year making finding your ideal journey simple and enjoyable.
A close relation to the original Orient Express, the British Pullman is made up of 11 carriages, all with their own name and unique interior décor. Steward service comes as standard and a well-stocked bar means passengers will never go thirsty throughout their trip.
Notable journeys onboard the British Pullman include the Golden Age of Travel; a spectacular five-course lunch prepared fresh onboard by talented chefs. Another popular journey is the Murder Mystery Lunch where guests must solve a fictitious murder that’s been committed onboard.
All journeys are round trips, last between five hours and a full day and include at least one multiple-course meal.
Departing from multiple locations across the UK is the Northern Belle, a 1930’s luxury train often used by royalty. Beautifully restored and taking guests to a wide-range of destinations across the North of England and into Scotland, the Northern Belle is the ideal train in which to step back in time and feel as though you are a part of royalty yourself.
Made up of 7 beautifully original and restored carriages, the Northern Belle offers fine dining journeys as well as excursions. All meals are inspired by the scenery that unfolds from your window during your trip and are prepared by a team of talented chefs in the kitchen car.
With a wide range of journeys to choose from including the popular Spirit of Travel Lunch, the Northern Belle is well-known for it’s Lakes & Dales journey, otherwise known as the Settle & Carlisle Steam Special. Hauled by the Princess Elizabeth, one of just two trains used for royal duties, this is an exceptionally special journey indeed.
All journeys are round trips returning guests to their departing stations. Journeys last between five hours and a full day and include at least one multiple-course meal.
There are two types of Orient Express UK journeys available; dining journeys and excursions. Dining journeys such as the Great British Sunday Lunch and Champagne Afternoon Tea take passengers on a scenic round trip through the glorious British countryside.
Routes may vary slightly, but with dining journeys the focus is on the exquisite cuisine you will be sampling during the trip. Rest assured, the route is quite the opposite of a commuter journey and taken at a much more leisurely pace.
Excursion journeys meanwhile take passengers to a point of interest as outlined in the itinerary. This may be to a city of interest, stately home or garden. All transfers are included and escorted if the journey requires. Guests then spend time at leisure at their excursion point before returning to the train for the return journey.
Orient Express style journeys vary in length depending on the journey. The shorter dining journeys such as Afternoon Teas generally last around five hours, with guests boarding around 11am and returning around 4pm, although this does vary with each journey.
Day trips last much longer but once again do vary depending on the journey. Guests board the train in the morning and enjoy a two or three hour journey to their excursion destination. Here they usually spend three to five hours at leisure as they please, before returning once again for the return journey.
We would advise that with any of these journeys, you allow for an entire day. Even with some journeys shorter, we recommend getting to the station an hour before departure to allow yourself plenty of time to find the platform and watch as the train arrives. A fine photo opportunity!
This also varies depending on the journey you have chosen. As standard, all journeys are round-trips taking guests back to the station they departed from, steward service is included as well as at least one multiple-course meal.
Excursion journeys include two meals; a brunch on the outward journey and usually a four-course dinner on the return journey. Throughout the duration of your trip, it’s unlikely you would ever get hungry or thirsty!
A drink is included with your meal, usually half a bottle of wine per person or equivalent, however with a well-stocked bar onboard, it’s possible to purchase a multitude of drinks as and when you wish. We recommend sampling some of the cocktails from the 1920’s and 1930’s era!
